Priesthood Power and another Rescue

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKHAM!!!!!! I LOVE YOUUUUU!!!

I love Tapachula.

What more can I say? I love...not putting on makeup because I'll just sweat it all off anyways. Running through rainstorms. Contacting and inviting 12 people to baptism at once in a creepy combi while a remix of Enrique Iglesias plays in the background. Talking to people in the street with machetes like it's no big deal. Crossing hammock bridges, and way dinkier woodboard slash bedframe bridges. Catching butterflies. Avoiding stray chickens. Countless laughs and ideas shared during planning meetings with my best friends the zone leaders, and the girls on intercambios. Preaching the gospel. I love it.

So I don't think I've really said anything...since the first time I had lice. Well they never really went away. I've been living with lice, using the shampoo like no ones business and killing all of my hair for like 3 months now.
SO I got desperate and the mission doc said, "Well why don't you ask for a priesthood blessing?"
Like, duh. I know it seems like something stupid. BUT LICE SUCKS OK.
So I awkwardly asked Elder Brass and Elder de Jesus for a priesthood blessing... to cure my lice. Of course, they gave me one. And I am not kidding you people! It was the most powerful blessing I have ever felt given to me! Elder Brass said, "Jordyn Kylee Hansen, con la autoridad del sacerdocio del melkesidec que poseo, pongo mis manos sobre tu cabeza, y mando que todos los piojos SALGAN DE TU CABEZA."
Hahaha! I'm not kidding you. It totally worked. HAVEN'T HAD LICE SINCE. Three months of freaking lice and all I needed was a little faith, humility and a priesthood blessing. Just too easy.

Enjoying my lice free hair. THANK YOU PRIESTHOOD BLESSING FROM ELDER BRASS.

So this week we had another rescue in Tuxtla Chico. But it was even more amazing and way more awesome. I'll write more next week.

Also, we sadly had to drop an investigator Hermano P, who had 4 asistencias. But... suddenly he said he doesn't believe in god... and well... in his prayer he pretty much dropped us. He prayed out loud that although he loved us, that we would never come back to visit him. Haha. OK. Cool.
But, on Sunday, we found an awesome investigator who has 2 asssistencias and wants to get baptised! Totally golden. I know the Lord has blessed us for our efforts!!!!

Love you all and miss you!!

Hermana Hansen
PS Hey so I have a birthday video for Beck, and pictures of this week and everything...but sadly I have a virus on my memory card and this computer doesn't read it. Soooo...I'm in Tuxtla right now for the leadership conference and hopefully I can get one of the assistants to take of the virus and send the video and pics next week.

You say coma, I say coma

Well I don't have a lot of super mega spiritual experiences to share this week because most of the week was spent in the mission home. Why, you ask? NBD.... my comp was just recovering from her coma.

Cuídense mucho!

Love, Hermana Hansen

At Zone Conference...Yay! It's Hermana Baker...Hermana Hansen's comp from the MTC!

OK BROMAS I GUESS I'LL EXPLAIN.

Super long story less long...my comp had a bad headache Wednesday. So, on our way home we decided to stop by Hermano P´s house to see if he had an Ibuprofen to give us. He didn't. But, he said he would order some from the pharmacy...and since my comp wasn't doing very well..we decided to wait.

She has had headaches like this before, and it's usually due to the tension in her shoulders. So I started giving her a massage, which started to help...but then made the pressure in her head worse. I told her to lie down for a bit while we waited for the medicine to see if the pain would pass (I know, HORRIBLE idea. We should have kept her awake... anyone who has been to any sort of first aid training knows that. DON'T KILL ME LIFEGUARD FRIENDS)

So 9:30 comes around and she's still out. I decide to call our District Leader to tell him what's going on. Midway through the call my comp wakes up, fall of the couch and starts dry heaving.
I yell, "CALL YOU BACK ELDER" and catch her as she falls. Suddenly she goes limp and stops breathing.

I yell, "HERMANO P! SHE'S NOT BREATHING YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO TOUCH HER!"
He then ninja throws her back on the couch and starts giving her compressions in her side (which didn't seem like a good idea to me). But, before I can stop him she starts breathing again and opens her eyes for a bit.

I start yelling at Hermano P. (what I thought was in Spanish but apparently was in English...good thing he understands a bit of English) "TAKE HER TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW. RIGHT NOW!"

Hearts are melted as the rabbit casually appears in the middle of our lesson

So, Hermano P. fireman throws her over his shoulder and starts running out the door, calling for a taxi. One of the member neighbors sees us. We tell him we need to get to the hospital, and luckily he has a car so we get in, go a block, and run out of gas. By this time, all of the jóvenes who were playing fútbol at the church have run over. Some staring in shock, some trying to help.

I yell at one of our members that she isn't breathing again and needs a priesthood blessing now. He panics and gives her a quick blessing along with another member. Miraculously it worked because as soon as the blessing ended she started vomiting again.

By this time another member with a car had pulled up and a bunch of members awkwardly crowd surf her to the other car. I jump in the car and suddenly it's 'Fast and Furious 7' to the hospital. She stops breathing in the car again and I said a quick prayer and she started vomiting again.

Mango píña.... only found in Chiapas and Oaxaca. our favorite fruit evs

We pull up to the hospital, get her in there...and when I get a chance to look around...I'm just like, "WHERE THE HECK ARE WE?"

It's super sketchy, looks like the red cross from that tsunami movie. Then I realize that they have taken us not even to a real hospital, but A SKETCHY RED CROSS IN DOWNTOWN TUXTLA.  The doctor and the nurses casually walk over and give her oxygen and an IV, like no big deal. AND I'M JUST LIKE HURRY UP PEOPLE MY COMPANION IS DYING. So then they make everyone leave except me, and things turn from scary to slightly uncomfortable real fast.

1. Everyone kept asking if we were in prayer...that this happens a lot when we are in fervent prayer in the church or something. Like they thought we were NUNS.

2. A bunch of members had come and were waiting outside and wanted to see her. But there was only one person allowed, and I denied everyone who wanted to switch me out. NO WAY JOSE. SHE'S MY COMPANION.

3. I somehow lost all my stuff in the confusion. I couldn't call anyone and tell them where we were. Luckily, a member got a hold of the assistants to the President and told them to come over.

4. Apparently nobody knows how to act to the companion who´s companion is in a coma. Like, no one knows what to say. "Como esta su compañera Hermana Hansen?" "Pues quien sabe, está en una coma!" "Bueno pues...como esta usted Hermana Hansen?" "Como piense que estoy, mi compañera esta en una coma!" "Si verdad... como podemos ayudarle?" "PUES OREN." *awkward head nod and half smile* Yeah, it's awkward.

Finally Presidente George showed up with his wife and the asistentes, and they gave her a blessing. When they finished the blessing she smiled, a tear fell, and she shut her eyes (they had been open but non responsive) and she started breathing better. About a half hour later, she woke up. This is a testimony to me that the power of the priesthood and prayer is real. The first time in the car, she started breathing, the second time with my prayer, again she started breathing and vomiting, and the 3rd time with president is when she started to wake up.

When she woke up, she said, "What? Why did you take me here if I was sleeping peacefully on Hermano P's couch?"

I laughed and said, "Seriously Hermana? You don't remember anything? You've been in a coma for 3 hours."

She didn't remember a thing! The only thing she remembered is that someone called her by her full name, and she felt peace, like she had been alone but someone was with her.

We still don't really know what happened. The doctor said it was a combination of dehydration, stress, and high blood pressure. But after 2 days resting in the mission home she's a lot better! Presidente and his wife left the next day so we had a party with the mission house all to ourselves! (which consisted of listening to the Piano Guys CD, sleeping, and reading Liahonas)

That night Hermana George and I went to buy more medicine and dinner while my comp was sleeping, so we bonded. And the next day when she was taking us back to our area, she said, "Do you mind if we stop by the mall? I need a shopping buddy." Haha and we went shopping with her!
(The worst part is a left my camera in Hermano P's house in all the confusion, and I don't have evidence of any of this! BUT I PROMISE IT ALL HAPPENED).

But through all of this something amazing happened! This week, after all the coma fun..we went to visit one of our investigators who has all of the asistencias, her sons a member! Hermana J. just needs to get a testimony and be baptized! She actually came to visit us when we were leaving the Red Cross. She was so worried when she heard! So Hermana J. said to us, "Wow, I guess you're willing to almost die so I'll get baptized huh?"

We laughed and said, "But really, Hermana! We would do anything to see you take this path in your life. And yes...we would really be willing to give our lives for this cause. Not because we want to have success on our missions...not because we want another statistic...but because we have this happiness! We love you so much that we want you to have it. We've been baptized, and have eternal families, and we would do anything for you to have the same."

Then her son, Hermano S. was able to bear his testimony. He told his mom how much he wanted to have an eternal family. It was a super spiritual moment. Even Hermana J, who has been closed off from the beginning..was crying. We are going to have a noche de hogar with them today, watch the restauracion video and have her pray and ask God if it's true. Praying that all goes well! I know that with God's help...she will be baptized on Saturday!

Love you all!

Super MEGA Splash!

Heyyyyyyy--
So.... not so chido thing happened this week... my companion has been super sick.. she has had a temperature of 38 or 39 C almost every day. So we were feeling a little (actually a lot) of desanimo....But then we decided that we would talk to Presidente George about the problem and ask him for a blessing that Hermana Guarcax could get better.

He gave her the blessing. And my companion has been feeling a lot better.... not 100 percent but she at least doesn't have a fever of scary heights all the time so we are counting our blessings. THE POWER OF THE PRIESTHOOD IS REAL FOOLS.

Reunited with Hermana Juarez!

Onnnnn another note.... this week we had an amazing experience. The other Hermanas in our ward have an eternal investigator, Hermano O., who has been to church 17 times. Yes, 17. He pays his tithing, goes to ward activities, and even asked bishop if he could give a talk in church.  But... he won't get baptized!!!!

So Hermana Guarcax and I came up with a plan.... to SURPRISE SUPER SPLASH Hermano O. into the waters of baptism.... jajaja. So we went to work in the area of the other Hermanas, and went to their lesson with him, so us four could all work on him and figure out what was really holding him back. And it was amazing.

For once somehow everything we planned actually worked out. We planned a couple of different activities to kind of iron him out haha and humble him down so we could ask some inspired questions and really figure out what was holding him back.... and it worked.

We had a celestial lesson, completely led by the spirit. We were teaching him in a park, but the spirit was so strong it seemed like we were the only people there. We testified, ironed him super hard but with a lot of love, and somehow the questions came to our mouths and the spirit touched his heart enough to open up.

In the end, he commited to an appointment for his interview. It was amazing! So Sunday he had his interview... and he passed!!! But, he says he todavía doesn't want to get baptized. Sooooo... we are gonna have a SUPER MEGA SPLASH with our zone leaders on Wednesday..... and we will see how it goes.

But I seriously know that if we plan, study and sincerely care and want to help the person... we don't need to worry about what we will say. Because the spirit will guide us.

Reunited with Hermana Baker from the MTC!

LOVE YOU ALL UN CHORRO.

Hermana Hansen

Enjoy more pictures from Hermana Hansen's week!

Kidney stones, Miracles and a Baptism!

 District Selfie

Take this as you will... but I found out this morning I do indeed have a kidney stone (which would explain the random pain I've been having in my back and abdomen). The worst was last night when I didn't know what was going on.  But, don't worry (mom)! Bishop came over at 3:30 am and brought his doctor bro...determined it was a kidney stone, bought me medicine at 4 am, and gave me a blessing. The worst of it has passed (according to the ultrasound guy). Now I just need to drink a lot of water and should be passing it today. Should be a party. PIEDRA FIESTA!

Hermanas Hansen and Yorgason with Hermana G

We watched the General Women's Conference (in Espanol) on Saturday!! I could actually understand everything this time around which makes me SUPER excited for General Conference!! The best part was the random music video "The Family is of God" at the begining (which was totally creepily tender and I loved every minute of it). But it would have been better in Spanish.

Intercambios this week with Hermana Cavallo de Dominican Republic. She's even sassier than me, so we had a good time. Working with her I really am even more grateful for the life I have lived, the family and situation I grew up in. It also makes me so grateful for America (GO USA) and so grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission. I have never seen anyone love the mission more than Hermana Cavallo. She truly is an inspiration!!!

My first time eating elote and I've been in Mexico for 8 months.... am I even Mexican??

So.... milagros, milagros (miracle, miracle)...

Hermano C. GOT BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!!!!! He was like the last person you would expect to be escogido (chosen)...but he totally was. It just goes to show you never know who is ready to accept the gospel in their life. His conversion story is absolutely hermoso (beautiful). We assigned him to read Alma 36... which he ended up reading 3 times because it was an answer to his prayers.

He told us, "When I was younger, I would go around making fun of people who believed in God, and telling them not to believe in Him. I've felt super guilty ever since I accepted God in my life and started praying, feeling like He could never forgive me for what I did. It's been tormenting me all these years."

 Hermano C and Hermano J

"But then I learned about the Atonement, and I read Alma the Youngers story. When I read that chapter I felt a peace come over me, and I knew that I could repent. God had forgiven me, and I finally felt this burden lifted off my shoulders. If only one chapter in the Book of Mormon can make me feel this way... then this church is true. The Book of Mormon is true and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The atonement is real."

'Nuff said. Hermano C. is the best. This church is true. There's no doubt about it. It's changing lives here in Pimienta and all over the world.

Love,
Hermana Hansen

Enjoy more photos from Hermana Hansen's week!

Mom...Hermana Cavallo is modeling a bag.....that I need...for my birthday...because my bag totally sucks and I have back problems because of it..... (awesome that I wasted 100 dollars right??) She bought hers in Dominican Rep... for the equivalent of 18 dollars...It's the best thing in the world! Apparently they also sell them in the Mexico City Temple.... maybe you can look online and order me one? I really need it my back is killing me haha. and thats all I want for my birthday. :) LOVE YOU! (Hey readers of Hermana H's blog...has anyone seen a bag similar to this..or is anyone going to the Domincan Republic or Mexico City Temple anytime soon..haha)? Let Mama Hansen know! Sounds like Jordyn needs a new bag!)

 Onion...what????
