All about Tuxtla

Hermana Hansen is currently serving in the Tuxtla Gutierrez Mission.  Her mission includes the Mexican state of Chiapas and a small southeast corner of the state of Oaxaca.  Chiapas is located in the far southern end of the country bordering Guatemala.

Tuxtla Gutierrez is the capital and largest city in Chiapas, with a metro population of nearly 700,000.

Just under 80% are Catholic with just over 13% belonging to Protestant or other Christian Groups.

Shopping in Tuxtla includes a Walmart and a Sams Club! 


Weather will vary depending on city in Chiapas, but is largely hot and humid throughout the year.  Average high temperatures are 85 to 90 degrees with lows between 60 and 70 degrees year round.  The 'rainy' season is May thru October with June thru September the wettest months.


Tuxtla Gutierrez has been blessed with a beautiful LDS temple

The mission boundaries include 6 stakes and 3 districts.
